In existence since 2001, the DiversityInc Top 50 is an entirely editorial process. There is no fee to participate, and companies that have business relationships with DiversityInc get no special treatment. All companies that complete the survey receive a free report card assessing their performance. Last year, 587 companies participated, up 11 percent from the previous year.
The 300-question survey measures diversity management in four areas—CEO Commitment, Human Capital, Corporate and Organizational Commitment, and Supplier Diversity. It is also the basis for DiversityInc’s 12 other lists—the top companies for Blacks, Latinos, Asian Americans, LGBT Employees, People With Disabilities, Executive Women, Veterans, Recruitment & Retention, Supplier Diversity, Regional Utilities and Hospital Systems, and the 25 Noteworthy Companies.
The DiversityInc Top 50 survey is aimed at organizations with at least 1,000 U.S. employees. DiversityInc has a separate Top Regional Companies for Diversity survey for smaller and more localized organizations. Results of that survey are announced each October.
The DiversityInc Top 50 survey is filled out and signed off by the head of diversity in each organization. It is not distributed to consultants, PR firms or students doing research papers. If you are interested in participating, please click here and fill out the short form.
