There is no doubt that creating true diversity remains one of business's greatest challenges. The overt racism of the past has been replaced by the unconscious [and often] conscious bias that proliferates today. Quite honestly, having grown up during both conditions, I find the "new racism" to be more frustrating and harder to accept.

I believe the only way true diversity can be attained is through the creation of a strong "top-down" philosophy, where company executives specifically emabrace diversity and make it part of the company's strategic plan. Otherwise, "human nature" will continue to prevail and excuses will be made for excluding underrepresented groups.
