Ira Hansen was going to be the next speaker of Nevada’s State Assembly. Until his racist past got in the way.
Hansen, elected as the speaker designee by his fellow Republicans, has written columns for the past 13 years for a local newspaper, The Sparks Tribune. But after an investigation by the Reno News & Review revealed just how racist and bigoted Hansen’s writings have been, he announced his withdrawal from his new position.
