I don’t see DiversityInc whining about women-only organizations that like the Curves fitness center and others. What’s next? Will men be allowed to compete in MISS USA? Ridiculous.

I would not be surprised if the new CEO of IBM cancels sponsorship in the future. I am certain she can think of many other worthy causes to sponsor that would still put IBM’s name in front of the public.

While I totally agree with the previous comments that this gesture was a token of Augusta’s part, I don’t agree that the women should have rejected the invitation and I do believe we should focus on the positive. While this gesture will enable two women to look bad in green jackets, it sends a positive message to women everywhere–that even the most conservative, “mens only” establishments in the country are realizing that it’s not okay to exclude women. And for the many women (whom we work with in our golf business everyday) who think they don’t belong on golf courses, they now have gotten a very positive signal that this is not true–and that they can play golf and use golf as well as men do to help them in their careers. Let’s not throw out the baby with the bath water.

I agree. Another token from a group of controlling white entitled men. They both should have said no. Augusta needs to be pulled out of the dark ages.

And just adding these two women reflects the tokenism of the addition.

Additionally, if these 2 women especially Ms. Rice had any real pride and respect for women, they would have rejected the
Invitation because it’s an insult to all women and just perpetuates the elitism of these 2 women.

It’s a disgrace and a sham all around.

Shame on these women for accepting the invitation. They are already in the club. They do not need this other phony chauvinistic club. They should have snubbed them. That would have been more meaningful and shown self-esteem and pride.
