Vice President, Workforce Strategies and
Chief Diversity Officer
Having served in the United States Marine Corps in Operation Desert Storm, David Casey brings a different perspective to the corporate world. “Having driven through a minefield not knowing if I’d make it out alive, some of the things we tend to take as insurmountable challenges in our lives don’t seem so problematic,” Casey told DiversityInc.
Casey is an executive sponsor of the company’s veterans resource group and has been instrumental in promoting outreach to both active-duty and veteran service members throughout his career. Prior to joining CVS, Casey was Vice President, Workplace Culture and Chief Diversity Officer at WellPoint. Earlier, he was a Regional Director of Business Development for Bernard Hodes Group, a talent-recruitment firm. Casey spoke at DiversityInc’s 2013 White Men & Diversity event.
Casey is president of the board of directors of the CVS Caremark Employee Relief Fund and sits on the board of Year Up Providence. He is also a member of the National Council of La Raza and the Society of Human Resources Management. Casey was inducted into the National Eagle Leadership Institute in 2006. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.
