CVS Health makes its debut on the list for its ongoing commitment to developing and empowering a diverse workforce.

The company works with schools, churches, universities, faith-based and community organizations to hire people with diverse backgrounds.

CVS Health has an entire team of colleagues dedicated to ensuring that youth, veterans, individuals with disabilities and mature workers have a place within the company.

For example, in 2016, several mature worker applicants from the National Black Caucus Senior Community Service Employment Program were hired as crewmembers in Greensboro and Cary, N.C.

It was also a year of strategic growth for its military programs, partnerships and alliances. Training for transitioning service members, veterans and spouses took place as a bridge from the military to civilian employment/career opportunities.

CVS Health established VALOR, a national colleague resource group. VALOR works to support veterans and create a veteran-welcoming work environment.

Pathways to Health Care Careers is a program aimed at underserved youth that provides hands-on career exploration

In 2016, CVS Health had a strong track record for hiring out-out-school, out-of-work youth with their first jobs.

myCVS Journey Pathways to Healthcare Careers, a STEM-enriched initiative, is designed to engage young people (ages 5-24) in age-appropriate awareness, exploration, and preparation for healthcare careers.
