Comcast NBCUniversal has focused on direct business-to-business outreach and partnership with advocacy groups that have connected the company to diverse vendors.

“The benefits of supplier diversity are reciprocal,” said Peter Kiriacoulacos, the company’s chief procurement officer. “Diversity within our supply chain gives our company a competitive edge, helps inspire innovation and offers us invaluable insights into the interests and needs of our customers.”

Comcast NBCUniversal is also focused on advancing women in technology, and in addition to having a women’s employee resource group, also has an ERG called TECHWomen.

As far as reaching out to the future workforce, the company runs one of the nation’s largest workplace mentoring program in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America through the Beyond School Walls. In the last two years, the program matched more than 320 employee mentors with students at Comcast offices in 15 cities throughout the country. And the company’s Internet Essential Ambassadors program sent more than 2,000 employees, from technicians to corporate executives, to visit schools and community groups to spread the word about digital literacy.
