FEATURES

DiversityInc Foundation

The DiversityInc Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was founded in 2006 and is funded by Luke Visconti's speaking fees and other donations from DiversityInc.

Our Mission

The mission of the Foundation is to fund scholarships for financially disadvantaged students. It is our goal to donate 2 percent of DiversityInc Media LLC's gross revenue via the DiversityInc Foundation.

Our Programs

We currently serve three schools Bennett College for Women (a historically black college), New Jersey City University (a Hispanic-serving institution and minority-serving institution) and Rutgers University. Mr. Visconti is a trustee or board member of all three institutions.

We will consider additional schools, but Mr. Visconti must serve on its board.

Current programs are:

  • Bennett College for Women, Greensboro, N.C.: DiversityInc Foundation donates unrestricted funds and will endow a scholarship in 2009.
  • New Jersey City University, Jersey City, N.J.: DiversityInc Foundation funds four to eight students to take the CPA prep course annually. We also are sponsoring a DiversityInc endowed scholarship for students with an interest in media and business.
  • Rutgers University, Newark, N.J.: DiversityInc Foundation funds an endowed scholarship through the Education Opportunity Fund (one scholarship each in Newark and Camden) . Through the Rutgers Foundation, DiversityInc donates to programs including: Rutgers Future Scholars (mentors 8th graders through finishing high school in STEM courses), the Women's Fund and Scholars Training and Enrichment Program (STEP). STEP is Rutgers Business School's college-prep program from Dr. dt ogilvie, associate professor of Management & Global Business.

Additional scholarships are funded through the UNCF and NSHMBA.

Speaking Engagements

DiversityInc Media LLC donates all administrative support/salaries, legal fees, accounting fees, office space and materials to the DiversityInc Foundation. One hundred percent of donated funds (speaking fees or other donations) go directly to our schools, which administer the scholarships.

The DiversityInc Foundation raises money primarily through speaking-engagement fees. DiversityInc Partner and Cofounder Luke Visconti directs and is responsible for DiversityInc.com and DiversityInc magazine's editorial product. He also writes the blog "Ask the White Guy."

Click here to request Mr. Visconti for your next event and to watch a brief video of his presentation announcing the 2008 Top 50 Companies for Diversity.

We also accept direct corporate donations. Donations may be directed at a specific area of concern and DiversityInc Foundation will channel the funds to the best program at one of the schools we support.

The DiversityInc Foundation does not sponsor events or fund research and does not directly administer or grant scholarships.
